Migraine Meds

Last Thursday Spencer and I took a trip up to the University of Iowa Children's Hospital
for an appointment to discuss the migraines he has been having

We left early because I had no clue where we were going

When we found the U and the parking ramp we were told to use,
I decided to waste some time and treat Spencer to a mcflurry at McDonalds
It's not often that I get my boys one on one
So I try to make these little trips memorable

We headed back for our 2:15 appointment, found our way to neurology and got checked in

Our appointment went great,
the staff was fabulous
and we have a preventable prescription (Propranolol)

I can't say enough good things about the University
Each staff member (receptionist, nurse and doctor) treated us like we were their only patient

He's still our mystery child {food allergies}

Dr. Little has nick named Parker the mystery child

We hope to get these food allergies figured out one of these days but we're losing hope
We got Parker's test results back today from the blood work he had done on Good Friday

Blackberries
Blueberries
and
Raspberries

They all came back - NEGATIVE

It's a blessing {Berries are delish!}

We can't help but wonder - What is this boy allergic to?!?!

Some day we hope to get him figured out

Until then we're prepared with new prescriptions for his inhaler and an epi-pen

Looking through bifocals

I remember welling up with tears when the optometrist told me that my 9 year old needed bifocals

Kids can be so mean!

Spencer sported his like a champ but now that he wants to try contacts, he's ready to be done

After all the migraines, this mama decided it was time for another eye exam

Dr. Krueger is fantastic and spends a lot of time doing tests and getting a good look at those optic nerves

Doc says the nerves are still large but there hasn't been a change
They look healthy and symmetrical

That's the good news!

The bad news- Spencer will still be looking through bifocals but they're not nearly as strong

We hope to get back to single vision some day
