What was I thinking

What was I thinking when I signed the boys up for College for Kids, swimming lessons, day camp, baseball and t-ball?

I can do this! That's what I was thinking

I must have forgotten that some time during these hectic 2 weeks- I have to work!

We start the morning like this-

The taxi leaves at 8:05AM (No later, I dislike the traffic after 8:20AM)

8:20AM- Arrive at College for Kids (I'm secretly hoping this is our last year)

9:00AM- Swimming Lessons
Today was his last day of lessons and he passed

10:15AM- Home to pack lunch for camp
(I'm sure he won't even eat it because he'll be to busy socializing)

11:30AM- Back to College for Kids- (Remembering to park in a spot that I can exit quickly)

11:45AM-Day Camp at Weed Park

Free Time- It's not really free time. There is always something that needs done. Like washing the ball uniform because we have games 3 nights in a row and the shirt we have to wear every day to day camp

3:30PM- Pick up from day camp

4:00PM-Start dinner (We have been living off of sandwiches. I guess it beats fast food)

5:15PM- Out the door again

5:30PM- t-ball

6:00PM- Baseball

8:15PM- HOME SWEET HOME!

20 year HOOAH

Congratulations Sgt. Calcott!

Signing up for the military at the young age of 17 is a huge commitment

20 years in the military is a huge sacrifice

Being deployed twice within 5 years is beyond the the call of duty

1st deployment Feb. 2003 - Oct. 2004

2nd deployment Oct. 2008- Oct. 2009

  You'll always be our hero!

Father's Day weekend

Father's Day weekend was far from relaxing but we feel like we got a lot accomplished

Remember the counter tops that I have been waiting weeks for?
One of them has been installed and I LOVE it! It's so much more than I imagined!

I'm still waiting for the others to be installed but that won't happen until the new sink arrives
(Why did we think we needed a special order kitchen sink?)

Saturday evening we spent time with our new friends (Cub Scout troop 633) at Wild Cat Den
The boys received their first awards (Scouting For Food badge)

Sunday morning the boys and I treated dad to breakfast in bed:
Cinnamon rolls, monkey bread, fresh strawberries and juice.

I mowed the yard, got the laundry caught up and cleaned inside
while the guys worked outside (leveling the ground for our new pool)
I'm certain that my work was MUCH EASIER

We ended Father's day weekend with a steak dinner at Mom and Dads (YUMMY!)

KLOVE

This morning the taxi took the oldest to college for kids, the youngest to swimming lessons,
back home to switch the laundry, back to school to pick up the oldest, a pit stop to get butter for tonights dessert and back home all while listening to KLOVE.

In the back seat a little voice says-Mom, Can I fly to Jesus?

Eye opener

We shouldn't need "eye openers" to see how good we have it but some times we get caught up in our own lives and forget to look around.

I got a real "eye opener" on Saturday night!

As most of you know,
we have spent the last couple of years trying to find out what's wrong with our little guy
He spent an entire year coughing
We went to doctor after doctor trying to get answers

bronchitis
sinus infection
whooping cough (rush him to Genesis East)
acid reflux
nervous habit

I had heard it all and wasn't going to give up, until I got THE ANSWER

Tricky insurance, a husband deployed and a sick boy, made me one stressed mama
Feeling like I wasn't getting any where, I took matters into my own hands, with a pen and paper
I wrote down everything we did and everything he put in his mouth

It took a while but I GOT IT! It's orange hi-c and anything artificially orange flavored

The doctors think I'm nuts but a parent knows their child better than anyone else!

Since then we have had allergy testing done
My little guy laid on the table with welts on his back
I'm glad we had the testing done and Parker is doing better than he has in years

Every morning when I give him his meds,
I see a cabinet full of allergy meds, nasal sprays, inhalers and epi-pens

On Saturday when I got that "eye opener", I was sitting at Gators in Burlington waiting for our food
There was a family sitting next to us with 2 boys
I saw the dad carry in a back pack; I knew what was in that bag, entertainment
(color books, crayons, books, Nintendo DS)
When they sat down and the dad pulled out an insulin shot, I could have fainted
 That poor little boy!

It was definitely an EYE OPENER! We'll take the allergies, it's nothing compared to diabetes

Always hungry

My boys have been eating NONSTOP!
I'm a little worried about the summer and how I'm going to feed these bottomless pits

My Dad watched the boys yesterday while I went to a bridal shower at church
Dad and the boys had to run into town to get Parker's ear plugs and swim band
I got an email from my mom today that said-

Dad said when they were driving into town yesterday, Parker asked him what they eat in heaven?

He must have been hungry!

Memories in the making

What we remember from our childhood, we remember forever   ~Cynthia Ozick

This morning we went to the Discover Center for a fishing seminar and the boys loved it!
Who wouldn't love sticking their hands in the mouth of a HUGE fish? ME!!!

After spending the morning out in the heat, we decided it was time for this
