Summer break started last week
but SUMMER officially hit this week

90 degree days
Yeah, I'm not ready for this

I should have enjoyed those lovely 70 degree days while they lasted

Tonight we have a ball game and they are calling for severe weather
The only reason it's going to storm is because I got the job of hiring an umpire
A reminder text has been sent to the ump and drinks for the team have been purchased
It can start blowing any minute

We got a start on our Summer Fun List

When the kids are bored and their friends are gone,
they come in ask if we can go somewhere

Last Friday we went to the Discovery Center and today we fed the ducks at Weed Park

You know it's HOT when the kids are hot and ready to come back home

I think the Aquatic Center might get added to the Summer Fun List next

We have the fever {Baby Fever that is}

I never imagined that I would have baby fever

Once the bottles, diapers and sippy cups vanished, there was no turning back

We went into this marriage saying- 2 kids
There was absolutely no talk about - What if we get 2 boys/2 girls?
2 was the magic number
2 boys, 2 girls, it didn't matter
We were done at 2!

And we are still done
 BUT
Our neighbor had the sweetest little girl about 3 weeks ago
This baby makes me melt
She makes me think that I would be more patient now as a new mom
Watching my boys hold her is PRICELESS
They LOVE her and think we should have one

We have a little bit of baby fever

Who needs summer break?

After running around like chickens with our heads cut off the last couple of weeks of school,
I decided that our first week of summer break would be low key

I think I may have needed a summer break more than these kids

If I've heard, I'm bored once -I've heard it a million times

Every morning Spencer gets up and wants to know what we were doing or where we were going

Can't we just relax and do nothing?

I LOVED our Summer Bucket List that we made last year
but at the end of summer, we still had things we hadn't accomplished and I felt guilty

This year I decided we would make a Summer Fun List
{A list of all the fun things we do this summer}
I'm hoping by going this route, we won't feel like we have to get everything crossed off the bucket list
and we can focus more on just having fun

We have made one goal-
We will be riding 100 miles on our bikes

Due to the excessive boredom this week,
I think we will be able to add some things to our fun list next week

Thankfully the cousins are coming tomorrow and will help entertain these boys for the next 4 days

Top Ten or so (Last week as a 5th and 2nd grader)

A quick run down of our last week of school

1. Spencer was picked to sing the National Anthem before the school talent show

2. On Tuesday Spencer graduated from fifth grade
{How can that be?}

3. On Wednesday the kids had Field Day at school

4. On Thursday Spencer's class went on a field trip to The Discovery Center
They were supposed to go to Sulsbury but it was flooded

5. Later in the afternoon, we spent the first 15 minutes of the fifth grade graduation party
in the basement of the bowling alley due to a tornado spotted in Letts

6. We had awards ceremonies on Friday
I'm still having a hard time believing that my son got an award for most well mannered

7. Last day of school = The best school meal you'll ever have
Hot dogs and hamburgers grilled by Chef Spies {Principal}

8. We celebrated our last day as a 5th grader and 2nd grader
with slushies from Kum and Go

Thankful to have another year under our belts

The House with the PINK bathroom

We've been doing some biking lately
On one of our rides we noticed an Open House sign at a home we toured  4 years ago

When we discussed why we didn't buy it, the only thing we could come up with was- The Price Tag

It's on the market again for 30K less

We decided to go back on Sunday to see what improvements the last owners made

I couldn't believe it - There were NONE

 I take that back
 They put up a fence that doesn't even run the length of the property line {tiny back yard}
and
The seller state of condition states they had the home treated for pests

Talk about disappointed
We were reminded why we didn't buy the house

Small Bedrooms
1 PINK bathroom, 1 very out dated bathroom and 1 "just plain nasty" bathroom
Old Wiring with Ancient Outlet covers
Velour Wall Paper {I'm not kidding}
Musty Basement with obvious water damage
Outrageous Property Taxes
The lovely view from the living room windows is now blocked by a newly built house
An Ancient Built in Stove {Basically the kitchen would need gutted}

And then there were little things-

The ugly white nobs on the dark wood kitchen cabinets
A coat closet so small the hubbies Carhart coat and bibs wouldn't fit in it
No main floor laundry
Chandeliers

And we were reminded why we didn't by the house with the pink bathroom

Isn't it grand?
{It would be with another hundred grand put into it}

You can check out more pictures here
They didn't include pictures of the PINK bathroom - I wonder why

The Raccoon and the Easter Bunny

The Raccoon and the Eater Bunny
It sounds like the title of a cute children's book

Friday afternoon we had an interesting adventure at our house

A week prior I heard scratching in the ceiling and told the hubby I was sure we had a squirrel
He assured me that what I was hearing was coming from the roof
What do I know?

On Friday Morning at 4AM I woke up to the sound of footsteps in the ceiling over our bed
followed by loud scratching and more footsteps
Eeeeeek!
I woke Chip up and we sat there listening to this rodent climb around in the ceiling

When the hubby got home from work, he gathered tools and climbed up in the attic

Here's what he found
 A Raccoon

In the midst of climbing up in the attic and climbing up in the tiny hole Chip made in the ceiling of the closet,
The boys were being a bit snoopy and going through things that shouldn't have been
Okay, maybe I need to learn to hide things better
The boys found plastic Easter eggs
Oooops!
Spencer: You're the Easter bunny aren't you?
My response- You just saved me a ton of money
When you stop believing, you stop receiving!

We think the raccoon is gone, we can only hope

Looking forward to the weekend

It's been beyond crazy around here

We celebrated last Sunday
Chip retired form the National Guard (okay not officially until the last day of May)
The uniforms have been turned in and he won't ever have to report to drill
We are so proud of him and the 21+ years he served

I was volunteered to be in charge of the gifts for teacher appreciation week
On Monday we took breakfast for 35 staff members
The boys were a huge help by getting up early every day this week
and delivering gifts to each teacher and staff member

Monday I spent HOURS on the phone
I was mentally exhausted and crying because I couldn't seem to get my point across to anyone
I got a traffic violation for going through a red light during a funeral procession
It took hours and lots of phone calls but I was finally dismissed

I'm still working 2 jobs (1 week left)
I truly enjoy teaching gymnastics but come May, it's time for a break

We are enjoying watching our boys do what they LOVE (Baseball)
But trying to get supper done and in us before 4:45 hasn't been an easy task

Parker's allergies have been BAD
On Thursday he woke up with a red swollen eye and ear pain
The Dr. said he's a mess
Ear infection in both ears, sinus infection, bronchitis and pink eye

Friday morning we woke up to a rodent scratching around in our attic {Gross}

Thank goodness it's Friday!

We're looking forward to spending all day at the ball field tomorrow
Lawn chair, diet coke and hopefully some sunshine
